Yale epidemiology professor Dr. Risch says hydroxychloroquine could save up to 100,000 lives — but it’s being stifled by a ‘propaganda war’
The mainstream media has been waging an all-out war against hydroxychloroquine since President Trump touted the malaria drug as a “potential game-changer” in March. Then in May, we wrote about Yale epidemiology professor Dr. Harvey Risch after he came out with a study that suggests that early outpatient treatment is the most effective for treatment of COVID-19 patients.
In the study, Dr. Risch said that late stage studies missed the point about effective usage of hydroxychloroquine. He went on to say that immediate and early ramping-up of treatment for high-risk COVID-19 patients is key to controlling the coronavirus pandemic crisis.
Since our last article, a new bombshell study conducted by the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit found that hydroxychloroquine cut the death rate significantly in sick patients hospitalized with COVID-19 – and without heart-related side-effects. The study also found that hydroxychloroquine cut death rate by 50% for COVID-19 patients.
Now, Dr. Risch is back with more findings about coronvirus and the use of hydroxychloroquine as potential treatment for COVID-19 patients. Speaking on Monday night with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, Risch maintained that the controversial drug is proven to be effective against coronavirus and and safe for people to use, but said the drug has become the victim of a “propaganda war.”
“It’s a political drug now, not a medical drug,” Risch said. “I think we are basically fighting a propaganda war against the medical facts, and that colors not just population people, how they think about it, but doctors, as well.
“There are many doctors that I’ve gotten hostile remarks [from] saying that all the evidence is bad for it and, in fact, that is not true at all,” he said. “All the evidence is actually good for it when it’s used in outpatient uses.”
“Nevertheless, the only people who actually see that are a whole pile of doctors who are actually on the front lines treating those patients across the country — and they are the ones who are at risk of being forced not to do it.”
All in all, Risch asserted that “75,000 to 100,000 lives would be saved” if the drug was used widely and perhaps as a prophylactic, meaning in a preventative manner.
So, what’s mainstream media waging the war on hydroxychloroquine? Are they doing it to push more expensive drugs developed by big pharmaceutical companies?
