Tesla delivered nearly 1 million electric vehicles in 2021, doubling its 2020 record
A year ago today, we wrote about Tesla after the world’s most valuable automaker delivered 499,550 vehicles in 2020, a 36% increase over the previous year. Fast forward a year later, Tesla reached a new milestone, beating its 2020 record with about 1 million electric vehicles delivered in 2021.
Over the weekend, Tesla said it delivered 308,600 electric vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2021 and full-year deliveries amounted to 936,172 vehicles. According to a consensus compiled by FactSet, Wall Street analysts had anticipated Tesla deliveries of 267,000 in the fourth quarter and 897,000 for all of 2021.
“In the fourth quarter, we achieved production of more than 305,000 vehicles and deliveries of over 308,000 vehicles. In 2021, we delivered over 936,000 vehicles,” Teslas said a statement.
In Q4, Tesla delivered a total of 11,750 of its higher-priced Model S and X vehicles. The auto giant also delivered a total of 296,850 of its lower-priced Model 3 and Y vehicles.

Tesla was also rewarded for its record-breaking performance. Shares of Tesla rose by more than 10% during Monday trading. The stock was trading at $1,166.58 which puts the company at $1.17 trillion market capitalization and solidifies Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s position as the world’s richest person at over $300 billion.
