Salesforce nears $8 billion deal for Informatica
Salesforce CRM is nearing a roughly $8 billion deal for data-management software firm Informatica, WSJ reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
Salesforce is expected to pay $25 a share for Informatica, in a deal set to be announced later Tuesday, the people said.
Neither Salesforce nor Informatica responded to Reuters’ requests for comment. But the news was enough to spark market movement—Informatica’s shares jumped 7% to $24.10 in premarket trading, while Salesforce shares edged up 1.6%.
This wouldn’t be the first time the two companies have tried to come together. Talks between Salesforce and Informatica had previously fallen apart in April after they couldn’t see eye to eye on terms.
Now it looks like things are back on track. Informatica had been fielding renewed interest from potential buyers recently, including Salesforce, according to someone with knowledge of the discussions.
If the deal goes through, it would mark another big move by Salesforce to deepen its footprint in enterprise data tools.
