Elon Musk says Anti-Defamation League (ADL) “almost succeeded in killing X/Twitter;” blames ADL for 60% fall in ad revenue
Is the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) trying to kill X (formerly known as Twitter)? The answer is yes according to a new post by Elon Musk. Now Musk is fighting back and threatening a lawsuit as he pushes back against the organization’s actions.
In a series of posts on Monday, Musk said the ADL “has been trying to kill this platform by falsely accusing it and me of being anti-Semitic” since he bought the company and that the pressure campaign has caused X’s ad revenue to drop by 60%. He also said the organization “almost succeeded in killing X/Twitter!”
“Our US advertising revenue is still down 60%, primarily due to pressure on advertisers by @ADL (that’s what advertisers tell us), so they almost succeeded in killing X/Twitter!”
The billionaire also confirmed that the company’s US advertising revenues have plummeted by 60%. The cause behind this decline is the ADL’s relentless pressure on advertisers to discontinue their support for X, effectively attempting to shut it down.
“We no longer need to restore US advertising to prior levels for survival,” the billionaire said in a post. “That said, it would be nice to see it return.”
Musk accused the ADL of pressuring advertisers to avoid his platform X due to supposed widespread antisemitism and said he may have to take legal action against the organization.

Musk added that if the ADL did not stop labeling him and the X platform as antisemitic, he would have “no choice” but to sue the organization for defamation. Responding to a question from Tesla Owners in Silicon Valley, if he would “take action on these false allegations,” Musk responded:
“If this continues, we will have no choice but to file a defamation suit against, ironically, the “Anti-Defamation” League. If they lose the defamation suit, we will insist that they drop the the “anti” part of their name, since obviously … 😂”

The Anti-Defamation League, commonly known as the ADL, stands as a prominent civil rights organization based in the United States. It was founded in 1913 in response to rising antisemitism and discrimination against Jewish Americans. Over the years, the ADL has broadened its mission to confront and combat all forms of hate, prejudice, and discrimination, including those directed at other religious, racial, and ethnic groups.
