Israel’s GPS Security Startup infiniDome raises $2.4 million in funding to protect wireless communications from jamming attacks
infiniDome, a Caesarea, Israel-based wireless security startup has raised $2.4 million in pre-series A funding round to scale its customer engagements in the Commercial Aircraft, UAS/UAV, and UAM market segments. The round was led by Next Gear Ventures, with participation from Honeywell Ventures.
Founded in 2016 by Ehud Sharar, Moshe Kaplan, and Omer Sharar, infiniDome develops detection & protection solutions for wireless communications of connected and autonomous vehicles and UAVs from jamming and spoofing attacks. infiniDome’s first product, GPSdome, the first-ever non-military GPS anti-jammer or anti-spoofer, is commercially available and already deployed worldwide protecting trucks, UAVs, and cars.
The startup also creates the world’s first one-stop-shop wireless end-to-end protection solution not only detecting but also protecting from jamming and spoofing of GPS (GNSS), V2X, cellular, and other wireless sensor signals which are essential for localization, sensor-fusion, short-range communications and SOC communication & monitoring.
Commenting on the funding, Tal Cohen, Ph.D., managing partner at Next Gear Ventures, said: “As an early investor in infiniDome, we know we have a truly world-class team that would emerge as the leader in the commercial and low SWaP GPS protection market. infiniDome continues to exceed their business goals and we are excited to continue our support of the company and its exceptional growth.”
“Navigation is at the heart of aircraft avionics and unmanned systems and Honeywell is a leader in assured navigation technology,” said Matt Picchetti, Vice President and General Manager of Honeywell’s navigation and sensors business. “This is a strategic investment for Honeywell as we see GPS protection as a critical complement to our inertial navigation capabilities. Customers require more robust navigation architectures, and we intend to cooperate with infiniDome to build joint solutions that will revolutionize resilient navigation.”
Recently infiniDome announced the successful completion of UAS flight trials conducted under GNSS jamming scenarios as a part of the NA’AMA initiative run by Ayalon Highways and Israel’s Ministry of Transport, a project to push the boundaries of BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) operation and accelerate the adoption of UAS in urban environments. Additional recent announcements include the selection of infiniDome’s technology by Easy Aerial for their global security and defense solutions.
“Financing from new and existing investors during this challenging time is a testament to our strong team and the growing need for our GPS protection technology for drones/UAS, connected fleets, critical infrastructure, and defense,” said Omer Sharar, infiniDome founder, and CEO. “Besides pushing the boundaries on high-end GNSS protection in a tiny package with our next-gen GPSdome, we are working on several new solutions including an exciting IoT sensor for critical assets and a cloud-based management system for monitoring and protecting attacks and signal quality at GNSS-dependent stationary or mobile assets,” added Sharar.
