Over 1 million Americans have now been tested for coronavirus; 100,000 samples tested daily
President Trump today just announced during the White House Coronavirus Task Force Briefing that over 1 million Americans have now been tested for coronavirus. The President also announced that at least 100,000 samples are tested daily.
Just last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Friday authorized a 15-minute coronavirus test. The test’s maker, Abbott Laboratories, said it expects to deliver 50,000 tests per day beginning next week. “We’re ramping up production to deliver 50,000 ID NOW COVID-19 tests per day, beginning next week, to the U.S. healthcare system,” the company said in a statement. Combined with ID NOW, Abbott expects to produce about 5 million tests in April.
To date, there are over 158,395 reported coronavirus cases in the U.S. with at least 2,457 deaths. A total of 4,435 people have also recovered from the deadly virus.
