Swiss startup SmallPDF takes on Adobe and gets Serial Founder on board

Smallpdf is the most widely used online PDF software in the world and is continuing to grow
rapidly, doubling the number of paying customers in the last year alone.The Zurich based
startup has recruited Dennis Just, a successful entrepreneur from the Swiss startup scene as
their new CEO. Together with the existing management, he will continue to push the expansion
and growth of the popular software company.

Founded in Zurich in 2013, Smallpdf GmbH is online PDF software. Crafted in Switzerland, the land of watches, banks and clean design, Its mission is to provide a fast, reliable and most of all simple experience for our users in working with their documents. Smallpdf is the most frequented Swiss website, and one of the 400 most visited sites in the world, with over 25 million unique visitors every month. The startup continues to accelerate growth at a rate of over 100% after six years. With this momentum and the new management, Smalldf intends to start taking on the key players in the industry.

Derived from a simple PDF compression problem, Smallpdf has grown to become the most popular online PDF software. Ranked within Alexa Top 1000 Global Sites, Smallpdf boasts a comprehensive portfolio of 17 PDF tools in 20 languages, with a global user base of 100,000 companies and over 200 million individuals, spanning over every single country on the plane

Smallpdf.com is one of the 400 most visited websites in the world and by far the largest from
Switzerland. Every month, about 25 million users use the platform to edit or modify their digital
documents. Still, the team of 17 doesn’t rest on their laurels. “Next, we want to take on the big
players in the market in the desktop, mobile and electronic signature areas, and continue to
sustain the accelerated growth.” says founder Manuel Stofer, who, as CTO will concentrate
more on the further development of technology in the Smallpdf. To pursue these goals, the
company will also double its team.

“With Dennis Just, we have found exactly the right CEO to master the challenges ahead. He
has extensive experience in launching new products and developing them to become market
leaders,” says Stofer. Dennis Just has already proven this twice. He founded both the banking
app “Numbrs” and the insurance app “Knip” and scaled these startups to over 100 employees.
Currently, he is in charge of direct and online sales for ERGO Versicherung.
