Hackers Strike Again: 773 Million Emails, 21 Million Passwords Leaked in ‘Mother of All Breaches’ – Are You Affected?
In what could be called the biggest data breach of the century, cyber hackers revealed their new “data dump trophy”: 772,904,991 unique emails and 21,222,975 unique passwords exposed, in what can be dubbed as the “mother of all breaches.” In total, hackers leaked a total of 1,160,253,228 unique combinations of email addresses and passwords. Troy Hunt, the security researcher who runs the site Have I Been Pwned (HIBP), first broke news about the data breach. He provided a link where anyone can check if their email has been compromised in the latest data breach. According to Hunt, large file of 12,000 separate files and 87GB of data had been uploaded to MEGA, a popular cloud service website. “Many people will land on this page after learning that their email address has appeared in a data breach I’ve called “Collection #1″.
