Crypto pioneer and founder of Tron Justin Sun is going on a space trip with Jeff Bezos aboard Blue Origin after paying $28 million
About a week ago, Crypto pioneer and Tron founder Justin Sun announced his retirement from the company he started just four years ago to become an ambassador of the Grenada government to the World Trade Organization.
In an interview last week, Sun said: “My career in the future … will focus on the legitimization of blockchain technology on a nation-state level.”
Just a week after his retirement from Tron, Sun announced Wednesday that he will fly to space on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin’s flight next year and also invites five other crewmates. Sun also revealed himself to be the anonymous bidder who paid $28 million in an auction for a seat to join Bezos aboard Blue Origin’s first crewed mission in July.
“I won the auction six months ago but missed the launch. However, this did not stop my love for space,” Sun said in a tweet. He also added, “So I’m very excited to announce this news and turn this opportunity into a voyage with five other warriors to space with me because I believe that space belongs to everyone!”
According to Reuters, the five people Sun will nominate over the coming months may include a member of the TRON DAO community, long-term holders of certain cryptocurrencies, and other leaders from the fashion, technology, and entrepreneurship.
We wrote about Sun back in October after he bought 3 Digital Zones NFTs for $2 Million and donated them to APENFT Foundation.
Originally from China, Sun graduated from Peking University, China’s second-best university, with a bachelor’s degree in history in 2011, according to his LinkedIn profile. He was appointed last week by Grenada’s representative to the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. Sun said would be bringing the flag of the Caribbean nation with him on the space trip.
Sun shot to fame for his polarizing views on cryptocurrencies and when he won an auction for lunch with Warren Buffett for about $4.6 million in 2019.
