The new $130k Tesla Model S Plaid performs better than $3.5 million Bugatti, Jay Leno says
After several months of delays, Tesla finally introduced its redesigned Model S luxury sedan to fans and potential customers. The long-awaited, and once rescheduled Model S Plaid was streamed live at Tesla’s factory in Fremont, California.
The upgraded electric vehicle, priced starting around $130,000, is meant to capture the interest of Tesla fans in an increasingly crowded market. In a tweet last week, Elon Musk said the new Plaid could go between 0 to 60mph in under 2 secs and a top speed of 200 miles per hour. Plaid comes with many features including up to 10 teraflops of processing power that enables in-car gaming on par with today’s newest consoles. Wireless controller compatibility lets you game from any seat.
Former host of NBC’s The Tonight Show Jay Leno was allowed to drive the car. Below is what he said about Model S Plaid:
“To get the same performance from an internal combustion engine, you probably have to spend, in the case of Bugatti, $2.5 million or Ferrari, close to $1 million, so its pretty amazing! Plus I had the air conditioner on.”
