Cool Moms Dance Too! is a new fitness startup launched by a Black mom to encourage exercise and emotional connection with kids through dancing
We live at a time when children spend more time on video games than exercising. It’s been a tough year, especially for moms. With the arrival of the coronavirus pandemic last year, the situation is made worse as children spend more time on the computer at a rate that alarms both parents and researchers. As parents, we spend valuable time with our kids. But how do we find the time, space, connect and stay healthy?
Enter Cool Moms Dance Too!, an Atlanta-based and women-led fitness startup that is focused on dance and fitness as a means of increasing family engagement and addressing physical and mental health. They have provided classes all over the Metro Atlanta Area and have worked with thousands of families.
Cool Moms Dance Too! was founded by Quiyonah Wingfield and her daughter Serenity Marie. She started Cool Moms Dance Too! out of the need to stay connected after losing her life partner and the father of her two beautiful daughters in January 2013.
“The loss was the most difficult life experience we’d ever encountered however, community, communication, and dance became the backbone of our strength to get through difficult times together,” Quiyonah wrote on the company’s website. Cool Moms Dance Too! helps families address their physical and mental using the power of dance and communication.
Since the inception of Cool Moms Dance Too! The company has been able to help moms and their children release pent-up stress, tension, spend quality time together, and improve their mental health. Achieving all of this while having a great time.
Today, Cool Moms Dance Too! announced the launch of its brand new Mom and Me Dance Fitness series! The series pilot will be launched on May 9, 2021, on Amazon right on time for Mothers’ Day. This series was developed to help parents and their children stay engaged, active, and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cool Moms Dance Too! has co-created this virtual experience with celebrity choreographer and professor Cici Kelley and her daughter Chloe. CiCi Kelley’s choreography skills have been featured on MTV MADE, Atlanta Falcon Half Time, Last Vegas with Morgan Freeman and has performed in music videos such as Beyonce’s ‘Get Me Bodied’.
The company has formed many alliances and partnerships with well-known organizations, including the City of Atlanta’s WEI, the Atlanta Hawks, Mental Health America, GA, NAMINGA, Kate’s Club, Kidz Bop, and Women’s Resource Center to End Domestic Violence.
Cool Moms Dance Too! is ready to take their dance fitness series pilot to Amazon this Mothers’ Day. The class will include the company’s signature family hip-hop dance as therapy activities in a thirty-minute session.
