Facebook is working with the CDC to launch a new COVID vaccine profile that visually segregates vaccinated people from the non-vaccinated
Facebook users, rejoice! Your friends and fans will soon be able to know that you have received COVID-19 vaccines. In a post early this month, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that his company is working with the CDC to launch a new COVID vaccine profile frame that you can add to your profile picture.
Zuckerberg said the idea is that “people are more likely to get vaccinated if they see friends, family, and people they trust doing it too.” Zuckerberg’s post quickly drew mixed reactions with some Facebook users praising him for his heroic act. Others hate the idea and think it’s too intrusive. One Facebook user by the name of Carol Steinbaugh Sceranka said this:
“Thank you Mark for making my decisions for me. After 69 years on this earth I’m not sure I am capable of making my own decisions on what I see and what I hear! You use your power to censor anything that isn’t to your liking instead of letting the people decide for themselves. I guess free speech isn’t free anymore. Sad what this country has come to!”
Another Facebook user by the name of Robert Cagle said, “Stop pushing your narrative off on everyone else Mark, the people will decide if they want the vaccination or not. Jeez, your as bad as the Hollywood elite.”
Meanwhile, Zuckerberg said that Facebook is “partnering with the CDC and US Department of Health and Human Services to launch new Covid vaccine profile frames. It lets you easily show your support and tell people that you’ve been vaccinated. And we’ll show you in News Feed your friends who have put up this profile frame.”

If we’re going to stop Covid, we need everyone who’s eligible to get vaccinated. People are more likely to get vaccinated if they see friends, family and people they trust doing it too. So we’re launching new Covid vaccine profile frame that you can add to your profile pic, partnering with the CDC and US Department of Health and Human Services to launch new Covid vaccine profile frames. It lets you easily show your support and tell people that you’ve been vaccinated. And we’ll show you in News Feed your friends who have put up this profile frame.
I’ll update mine after I get vaccinated, which I plan to do as soon as I’m eligible. I hope everyone else does the same!”
