The White House on lockdown: “Non-scalable” fence built around White House plus 250 soldiers on standby to handle election night chaos
The U.S. government and law enforcement agencies around the country are bracing for a surge of post-election day unrest. According to a report from CNN, White House a “non-scalable” barrier surrounding the White House complex has been erected to protect the president from potential protesters. In addition to the fence, 250 soldiers on standby to handle election night chaos and assist local police.
CNN also reported that the temporary fence surrounding the White House would be similar to the barrier erected to create a perimeter surrounding the White House. An additional fence will be erected on Monday around the Ellipse and Lafayette Square on 15th Street and Constitution Avenue NW.
In a tweet yesterday night, NBC White House correspondent Geoff Bennett said: “The White House on lockdown: A federal law enforcement source tells NBC that beginning tomorrow, crews will build a ‘non-scalable’ fence to secure the WH complex, Ellipse and Lafayette Square.”

250 National Guardsmen have been put on standby, reporting to Metro Police officials.
