On this day, February 7, 1997: Steve Jobs rejoins Apple 11 years after being fired
Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded in Apple founded in 1976. Jobs was the ideas guy and handled the business side of things; Wozniak was the engineering guru. Jobs was later ousted from Apple after a failed boardroom coup. At just just 30 years old, Jobs got fired from his own company.
Jobs went on to form his own startup, which was eventually purchased by a desperate Apple. Not long after, Jobs would become interim CEO, then permanent CEO, and Apple would go from tech industry punchline to the most valuable company in the world.
Below is a video of Jobs’ speech after he rejoined Apple in 1997. Special shout out to Jon Erlichman who first shared the story on Twitter.
