This AI-powered robot can make 300 pizzas in an hour

Eight years ago, Marc Andreessen penned his famous “Why Software Is Eating the World” essay in The Wall Street Journal. It is no longer about software eating the world, today, we now live in a world driven by a nexus of artificial intelligence and robotics.

After three years of quietly developing a robotic food system, a Seattle, Washington-based startup Picnic, has  emerged from stealth mode with an automated food assembly system that assembles custom pizzas with little human intervention. According to reports, the newly minted Picnic’s robot will be serving food to thousands of guests at next month’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

Picnic says its robots can produce up to 300 12-inch customized pizzas an hour on the CES show floor. Scheduled to take place place between January 7-10, 2020, the event will be used by many tech companies to showcase their new technology and products.

“Picnic’s distinct culmination of food production customization and throughput, smart data and cloud analytics is quickly resonating with foodservice operators,” said Clayton Wood, CEO of Picnic.
