3D printing startup ZVerse partners with 3D Systems to offer CAD as a Service to enable digital manufacturing

ZVerse, a tech startup that develops 3D content creation and production applications for 3D printing, today announced it’s partnering with 3D Systems, a provider of parts manufacturing services. ZVerse is a venture-funded design technology startup and the first company to offer CAD as a Service at scale for manufacturing. The partnership gives 3D Systems On Demand clients access to ZVerse’s AI-enabled platform and network of certified 3D designers for guaranteed manufacturable files.

Founded in 2013 by John Carrington and Kevin Maloney, the Columbia, Maryland-based ZVerse bridges the design gap for digital manufacturers at scale through our AI-enabled CAD as a Service (CADaaS) platform and certified designer network. ZVerse’s product, Layr, is used by Fortune 100 companies and small businesses alike. ZVerse is licensed with over 36 collegiate organizations, including the University of Notre Dame and University of Oregon, to produce full color 3D printed sports memorabilia. ZVerse maintains the largest library of officially licensed 3D printable content for the sports industry worldwide.

The strategic alignment will provide 3D Systems’ customers with access to ZVerse’s network of certified designers who can lend their expertise to optimize file formats – facilitating desired final parts. These services include everything from design modifications to revising file formats to ensure the final part matches the customer’s requirements.

The news reflects the evolving needs of the fast-growing additive manufacturing industry, which
anticipates growth to $35.6 billion by 2024 according to the Wohlers Report 2019.
