Motive Partners raises $473 million for Inaugural Fund to invest in fintech startup companies
Motive Partners, a New York City-based next-generation investment firm focused on technology enabled companies that power the financial services industry, has closed $473 million for its inaugural fund called Motive Capital Fund I (MCFI). The capital commitments for the fund came from public pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, alternative asset managers, family offices, endowments and foundations across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Australasia.
Motive Partners partnered with Houlihan Lokey on the fundraise of MCFI, which was led by Robert
(Bob) Brown in his previous role as Global Co-Head of Houlihan Lokey’s Private Funds Group. In conjunction with the funding, Motive also announced, today, the appointment of Bob as a Founding Partner and Member of the Firm’s Executive Committee. MCFI is managed by Motive Partners and is the firm’s debut private equity fund focusing on growth and buyout opportunities in financial and business services technology companies.
Founded in 2016 by Alastair Lukies CBE, Alberto Corvo, Andy Stewart, Etienne Castiaux, Frank Martire III, Michael Hayford, Rob Heyvaert, and Stephen Daffron, Motive Partners is an investment firm focused on technology-enabled companies that power the financial services industry.
The Fund has already invested in six portfolio companies requiring a total of $3 billion of equity
from Motive, LP co-investors and broader investor consortia. The portfolio includes Avaloq, Dun & Bradstreet, Finantix, Global Shares, LMRKTS and LPA.
