AxleHire acquires shipping startup Covet Shipping to expands last mile delivery service
AxleHire, a provider of logistics innovation for the last mile economy, has acquired New York City-based startup Covet Shipping. The financial term of the deal was not disclosed. The acquisition, which is part of AxleHire’s strategic expansion across the United States as it launches its service in New York, positions AxleHire as the leader in same day and next day delivery for retailers and brands.
Covet Shipping was founded in 2018 by Harrison Azizi, Maxwell Drut, Tai Dang, and Troy Lester. Covet Shipping is a full-service shipping company that utilizes technology to make the customer delivery experience fast, convenient, and transparent. Covet Shipping offers same day and next day delivery services that are tailor-made for leading brands in New York.
“AxleHire provides retailers, brands and other companies a cost-effective solution to compete with Amazon and Walmart who are offering same day and next day delivery services,” stated Daniel Sokolovsky, founder of AxleHire. “The acquisition of Covet Shipping comes when we are expanding our proven same day and next day delivery services to the New York area. Utilizing our proprietary technology platform, we provide superior service to companies and consumers alike.”
Covet Shipping has been an innovator in the last mile economy, assisting key brands including Andie, to compete with large retailers who offer same day and last mile delivery services. The acquisition of Covet Shipping will expand AxleHire’s service offerings to Covet Shipping’s customers in two key markets already served by AxleHire – Los Angeles and San Francisco. Covet Shipping’s team joined AxleHire effective September 3, 2019.
“The team at Covet Shipping is excited to be a part of AxleHire,” stated Troy Lester, co-founder of Covet Shipping. “Not only is the company’s culture a perfect fit, but AxleHire’s commitment to industry innovation sets them apart from other companies in the last mile delivery space. Their entry into the New York market will be a game-changer for brands, retailers and others looking to compete in the last mile economy.”
“We’re really excited to be joining forces with AxleHire. I believe we can have a tremendous impact on paving the way for AxleHire’s retail and apparel acquisition strategy. Especially for brands that are putting logistics at the forefront of their consumer offerings,” said Maxwell Drut, co-founder at Covet Shipping
