Elon Musk is the most inspirational leader in technology, according to a new survey of global industry professionals titled: “2019 Global Brand Health Report” released Tuesday by Hired, the job search marketplace. Global tech professionals named Elon Musk as the most inspirational leader in tech despite, or perhaps even because of, his reputation for erratic behavior. Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella were ranked as the second and third most inspiring leaders respectively.
As part of its annual “Brand Health Report,” Hired.com surveyed more than 3,800 top tech workers on its platform to find out which companies rank as their most desirable employers and how other organizations can compete for their attention. The survey includes tech professionals across the U.S., the U.K., France and Canada. The survey was carried out between June and July this year.

- Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft
- Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder and CEO of Facebook
- Jack Ma, co-founder and former chairman of Alibaba
- Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook
- Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix
- Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube
- Marissa Mayer, former CEO of Yahoo
- Anne Wojcicki, co-founder and CEO of 23andMe
Best tech companies to work for
Airbnb was named the best private company most tech professionals wanted to work for among the top 15 private companies, with SpaceX, Hulu, Reddit and Kickstarter rounding out the top five. Meanwhile, Google, Netflix, Apple, LinkedIn and Microsoft were ranked the five most attractive public firms.
Among public companies, Microsoft ranked fifth on a list of top 15 employer brands, trailing Google, Netflix and Apple, as well as LinkedIn, which it acquired in 2016. After Slack at No. 6, Amazon took the seventh spot as the only other Seattle-area company on a list dominated by Silicon Valley tech giants.
