Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey’s account hacked; Twitter Blames Mobile Provider ‘Oversight’
The official Twitter account of Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of the popular social media platform, was hacked on Friday. The hack became apparent his account was compromised after a number of peculiar tweets appeared on his Twitter account.
The hackers posted racial slurs, anti-semitic remarks and orandom and/or offensive tweets on the @jack Twitter page. One of the first tweets sent from his “compromised” account was the N-word. Another, sent minutes later, praised Hitler.
It took Twitter around 18 minutes to remove the tweets. The company noted around 90 minutes after the intrusion that it had secured the account.
In a tweet, Twitter Communication, said, “We’re aware that @jack was compromised and investigating what happened.”

Twitter blamed the hack on mobile provider oversight. “The phone number associated with the account was compromised due to a security oversight by the mobile provider. This allowed an unauthorized person to compose and send tweets via text message from the phone number. That issue is now resolved,” Twitter said.
