Blockchain voting startup Votem acquires election software and online voting company Everyone Counts
Votem, a blockchain-based mobile voting platform that enables citizens around the world to easily vote online with unprecedented verifiability, accessibility, security, and transparency, has acquired a 21-year old market-leading election software and online voting company, Everyone Counts. The terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Founded about 4 years by Pete Martin, Votem is on a full out offensive in order to change the way we vote and believes that mobile voting will create positive change in the world by bringing modern voting to the world. Votem has tallied more than 8.8 million votes on its blockchain voting platform. Votem has also partnerships with Blockchain Research Institute, National Association of Secretaries of State, National Association of State Election Directors (NASED), International Association of Elections Officials (iGO) and Election Center. Votem has received praise and accolades from various institutions including the Cleveland Technology Awards and OHTech Best of Tech Awards.
“Both Votem and Everyone Counts were founded with a similar mission to make voting more accessible, secure and transparent with the shared objective to instill confidence in voters that their ballot was cast the way they intended,” said Pete Martin, Founder/CEO of Votem. “With two decades of leadership in online voting combined with the most advanced voter registration/election management system available today, teaming with Everyone Counts is an obvious fit for Votem as we grow our company and expand our offerings.”
Everyone Counts was founded in 1997. It offers web-based voting products including Voter Registration, Online Voting, and Remote Accessible Voting (RAV). Everyone Counts captures the voice of the voter in high fidelity to enable a better democratic process. We achieve this by providing elegantly simple software and exceptional services to upgrade the election process.
Combining Votem’s mobile and blockchain voting platform with Everyone Counts’ vast experience and expertise in delivering online elections helps voting administrators and election management bodies better meet the unique and disparate needs of their eligible voters.
“We are excited to combine our respective online voting solutions to offer unparalleled security and service to government bodies, unions, boards, award shows, and any other entity that requires accessible, transparent, and trusted elections,” said James Simmons, Everyone Counts’ CEO. “Together, our products provide a comprehensive solution for voter engagement, voter registration, election management, and voting for our current and future clients. We couldn’t have found a better organization with which to continue and expand our vision for the future of elections.”
With the completion of the acquisition, Votem now offers five voting products covering mobile and online blockchain voting, voter registration, election management systems, and remote accessible voting for military and overseas voters.
Combined, the company serves a set of blue-chip private and public sector clients including the Television Academy, the United Nations, the States of New Jersey, Colorado, Alabama, and Montana, The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Ohio State Bar Association, and many others around the world.
The first project for the combined team is to complete the implementation of the Interactive Sample Ballot (ISB) as part of the “Voting Solutions for All People” (VSAP) project in Los Angeles County in partnership with Smartmatic.
