The mobile game market is on fire. According to the latest report from video editing company, Wondershare Filmora, mobile gaming is forecast to represent over 50% of total games market. That is a big rise from the 45% that is projected for 2018. In 2017, 42% of all gaming revenue was generated through mobile games. It’s also noteworthy from the report to see that the gaming industry is dominated by ten companies below. The crumbs are left for other smaller companies.
Wondershare Filmora also shows China takes the lion share of the revenue, followed by the United States, Japan, and Germany. Tencent topped the list of gaming companies earning the most in 2017, with almost double the amount taken by second place company Sony.
There are also surprising numbers from the report. For example, the Asia-Pacific region has nearly 1 billion of gamers, which represents half of the entire gaming population in the world. Below is the infographic with the rest of the stats.
