Connected pet startup BarbelBark raises $2.8 million to connect you to your dog and the people you trust
Forget connected home. Connected pet is here and BabelBark is leading the change. BabelBark is a modern solution that connects you to your dog and the people you trust to keep them happy and healthy throughout life. Its mobile app and software platform connects pet parents, pet vendors and veterinarians in one ecosystem. Today, the Newton Massachusetts-based startup announced it has secured $2.8 million in Series A Funding to accelerate growth opportunities and further cement leading pet software platform’s position in the veterinary space. The funding will also be used for global expansion and investment in additional marketing resources and recruit top talent.
Founded in 2016 by Bill Rebozo and Roy Stein, BabelBark now connects 65,000 plus pets with over 450 pet care businesses (i.e. veterinary practices, trainers, shelters, groomers, walkers, pet sitters, boarding kennels, and more within the pet care community) through a digital platform with a mobile application. It offers seamless activity monitoring, connection to primary care and emergency veterinary services, medical records and medication reminders, regional/local pet service providers and tailor-matched products to prescriptively and proactively help pet parents monitor and manage their pet’s unique needs.
“We are delighted to secure this strong financial support from some very highly regarded investment groups,” said Bill Rebozo, founder, product and market strategist for BabelBark. “We are currently estimating this fund expansion will help us reach more than 250,000 pets on the platform in the next six months and allow BabelBark to become the most connective and comprehensive platform across a pet care community in North America in a year.”
With this infusion of capital, BabelBark will also further accelerate its expansion and growth in other countries. The company recently announced significant expansion of its revolutionary mobile app and software platform into English-speaking countries and territories including Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, and the U.K. in December 2017. This expansion outside of the U.S. and Canada will bring the emerging BabelBark platform worldwide to help dogs live happy, healthy lives.
BabelBark was also chosen as one of the top 20 up and coming companies in the veterinary space by VMX (formerly the NAVC Conference). BabelBark was featured in the VMX Startup Circle inside the VMX Innovation and Technology Center from Feb. 4 to 7. This is a dedicated area inside the VMX Expo Hall where the hottest and most innovative veterinary inventions were showcased. At the conference, BabelBark rolled out its latest BabelVet software with new veterinary focused capabilities along with the BabelBark pet parent mobile app version 2.0.
During the VMX 2018 Innovation Symposium, Kerri Marshall, D.V.M., M.B.A., chief veterinary officer for BabelBark, Inc. presented a session titled: The Digital Mobile Practice: A New Way of Connecting with Clients. Attendees got first-hand insight into how BabelBark is helping veterinary clinics use digital mobile assets.
