Swedish electric car startup Uniti is offering 5 years of free solar charging to customers

Uniti customers no longer have to worry about charging their electric cars. Uniti electric cars now come bundled with five years of free charging. The incentive is to make it attractive for Uniti car buyers. The startup made the announcement on Monday that vehicles supplied with five years of free electricity will all be sourced by solar cells. In a separate press release on Tuesday, the company also announced it’s teaming up with MediaMarkt Sweden to disrupt electric car distribution and bring Uniti vehicles to the masses.
According to the information made available on its website, the price starts from €14,900 (~US$17,500). Additional government rebates available in most EU countries (TBC in Sweden). The company said it has already received close to 1000 “pre-orders” so far. Uniti is already taking pre-orders from buyers. Buyers will have to make a refundable deposit of 1.399SEK (€149), which can be placed in-store or online. First deliveries are expected in 2019. The pre-order the opportunity for people to join the queue to be the first to test-drive and own Sweden’s new electric car. Sorry U.S. customers, there is currently no timetable on when the Uniti will be shipping to the U.S. market.
Uniti is an electric city car designed to be agile in urban environments, with a unique and contemporary approach to safety, sustainability and user experience. The first vehicle will be launched tomorrow in Uniti’s production facility in Landskrona, Sweden, and first deliveries are scheduled for 2019.
Dubbed as a “The perfect second family car, daily commuter vehicle, or the first car for the next generation,” the vehicle comes with the following target specifications & options:
- 2, 4 and 5 seater models
- Up to 300km range (22kWh battery)
- Auxiliary battery to charge anywhere (30km top up)
- Home fast charging (AC) 3hrs 10mins = full charge
- DC charging 200km range in 30mins
- 0-80kmph in 3.5 seconds in sports mode (top speed up to 130kmph)
- Suitable for both city and highway driving
Uniti, a Swedish automotive startup, was founded in January 2016 by Lewis Horne (CEO) which is developing a high tech electric city car in Lund, Sweden.
The company started as an open innovation project at Lund University and evolved into an independent startup in January 2016.
