Breaking: Peter Thiel out of Y Combinator after ending part-time partner program

Billionaire venture capitalist and founder of PayPal Peter Thiel is no longer affiliated with Y Combinator after the startup accelerator ended its part-time partner program, according to an edited company blog post. Pete Thiel is still a board member of Facebook.

No one knows for sure what prompted Y Combinator to sever ties with Thiel. However, there was of a backlash and criticism of Peter in tech continuity for his support of President Trump during the 2016 election. In addition, on October 16, 2016, Sam Altman, the president of Y Combinator, posted this tweet to express his disagreement with Peter’s support of the then presidential candidate Trump.

As of the time of writing, Y Combinator updated Peter Thiel’s profile page on its blog site that reads: “Peter Thiel is no longer affiliated with Y Combinator.
