Want to work for Elon Musk? Musk’s PAC is hiring door-knockers in 16 key states
Looking for a two-month gig to make some extra cash? A political action committee (PAC) funded by Elon Musk is hiring for short-term positions across the U.S. to engage with voters in support of specific candidates and campaigns.
According to a report from Bloomberg, Musk’s PAC is hiring candidates between now and November for knocking-on-doors jobs to get voters on board with Donald Trump and Republicans running for Congress. The PAC is targeting important cities and towns in swing states, including Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Poughkeepsie, New York.
Door-to-door canvassers will help promote the PAC’s mission of supporting candidates who advocate for free speech, free markets, and meritocracy. With backing from Musk, you’ll be part of a team working to drive voter turnout and share this message. The job involves registering new voters, gathering data, conducting community outreach, and supporting local events.
According to the PAC’s website, the door-to-door canvassers will “promote our mission of supporting candidates who uphold free speech, free markets, and meritocracy. With backing from figures like Elon Musk, who supports our commitment to merit and freedom, you’ll be part of a team that’s not just playing the game but changing it.”
“The plan to hire door-knockers across 16 states is part of what has so far been a $63 million effort by Musk’s PAC to elect Trump, which has included digital advertising and on-the-ground turnout efforts. The door-to-door canvassers will assist in registering new voters, data collection, community outreach and event support,” Bloomberg reproted, citing the job descriptions.
Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, founded the America PAC in May after years of modest donations to federal candidates. His recent investment could play a pivotal role in an election that’s expected to be decided by just a few thousand votes in crucial swing states.
Musk’s entry into the political scene comes four years after Mark Zuckerberg’s company, Facebook, helped 4.4 million people register to vote in the U.S. election.
In September 2020, Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, donated $250 million to the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL). Soon after, CTCL announced plans to distribute the funds to local election offices across the country to assist with processing mail-in ballots and ensuring polling places met the necessary sanitation standards due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, Musk, currently the world’s richest person, endorsed former President Trump’s reelection bid in July following an assassination attempt on the former president. There are discussions about Musk potentially leading a federal spending review commission if Trump wins. A Trump presidency could also benefit Musk’s companies, especially with Trump’s recent vow to reach Mars during his term if reelected. Musk founded SpaceX in 2002 with the ambitious goal of making life interplanetary.
On X (formerly Twitter), Musk expressed concerns that a Democratic administration would hinder America’s progress and threaten the Mars program.
“While I have many concerns about a potential Kamala regime, my absolute showstopper is that the bureaucracy currently choking America to death is guaranteed to grow under a Democratic Party administration. This would destroy the Mars program and doom humanity,” Musk said on X.
SpaceX plans to launch about five uncrewed Starships to Mars in two years.
If those all land safely, then crewed missions are possible in four years. If we encounter challenges, then the crewed missions will be postponed another two years.
