Roper acquires Transact Campus for $1.5 billion to expand its education business
Roper Technologies has agreed to acquire Transact Campus for $1.5 billion to enhance its services for higher education institutions and healthcare facilities, the company announced on Thursday.
After the acquisition, Transact, known for its campus technology and payment solutions, will merge with Roper’s CBORD division. Nancy Langer, Transact’s CEO, will lead the unified company, with CBORD’s Dan Park assuming the role of COO.
This acquisition will provide Roper with a strategic advantage as it faces challenges from decreased enterprise spending on its software portfolio, driven by economic pressures that have delayed contract renewals.
Roper expects Transact to generate approximately $325 million in revenue by 2025. The acquisition will be funded through a combination of cash and a revolving credit facility, NASDAQ reported.
Transact Campus offers payment, identification, and commerce services to improve campus life, and it will be integrated with Roper’s CBORD business, which specializes in nutrition, security, and campus commerce services.
Roper Technologies is known for developing engineered products and solutions for niche markets. The company operates across three main areas: application software, network software, and technology-enabled products.
Founded in 1890, Roper began as a manufacturer of home appliances and industrial products. Over the years, the company has grown through acquisitions and strategic shifts, establishing itself as a leader in its industry with a solid history of growth and profitability.
