Vantage Data Centers raises $1.6B from GIC and ADIA to expand Asia-Pacific footprint

Vantage Data Centers is doubling down on Asia-Pacific with a massive $1.6 billion investment led by GIC and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). The deal marks one of the company’s largest regional financing moves to date and underscores the accelerating demand for data infrastructure as AI workloads reshape the industry.
The fresh capital comes just three months after Vantage tapped the European market with a €720 million Euro ABS deal, signaling that investor appetite for digital infrastructure remains red hot. Bloomberg also confirmed the latest funding, reporting that it will help Vantage expand across Asia-Pacific, starting with the acquisition of a hyperscale campus in Johor, Malaysia.
That campus, located in Sedenak Tech Park, is no small play. Built by Yondr Group, it carries more than 300MW of potential capacity and ranks among the largest hyperscale facilities in Southeast Asia. The site is part of Yondr’s portfolio that DigitalBridge affiliates recently acquired. DigitalBridge, a major backer of Vantage, is again playing a central role in the expansion.
What stands out is the way Vantage structured the financing. Instead of leaning solely on equity or traditional debt, the company used the infrastructure itself and future projected revenues as collateral. It’s a formula that’s already proven successful in the U.S. and Europe and is now being exported to Asia-Pacific.
“This significant investment marks a pivotal milestone in our APAC growth journey,” Jeremy Deutsch, president of Vantage Data Centers, APAC, said in a news release. “With the support of GIC and ADIA, we are positioned as one of the largest providers of sustainable AI and cloud digital infrastructure in the region. Adding the Johor campus to our portfolio will bring our APAC footprint to 1GW of capacity. This acquisition enables Vantage APAC to continue to deliver scale and speed for our customers.”
For investors, the bet is clear: AI and cloud adoption are driving unprecedented demand for hyperscale capacity. GIC’s Boon Chin Hau said, “As a leading global data center developer and operator, Vantage is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for data center capacity in the Asia-Pacific region. We look forward to contributing to its ongoing expansion and success.”
ADIA echoed the same confidence, framing its commitment as part of a larger strategy to invest in infrastructure that supports digitalization. “This new commitment supports the growth of Vantage’s APAC platform at a time when advances in AI and cloud computing are driving regional demand for data center capacity,” said Khadem AlRemeithi, executive director at ADIA.
For DigitalBridge, which has been building a portfolio of digital infrastructure across the globe, the move further cements its role in the backbone of AI. “This is an exciting moment for Vantage as it accelerates its expansion across Asia-Pacific,” said Jon Mauck, senior managing director and head of data centers at DigitalBridge.
When the deal closes in the fourth quarter of 2025, Vantage’s APAC footprint will jump to 1GW of capacity, cementing its place as one of the region’s most aggressive players in the data center race.
