Abridge Raises $300M at $5.3B Valuation for AI Medical Documentation
Abridge, a Pittsburgh- and San Francisco-based healthcare startup that uses generative AI to automate clinical note-taking, has raised $300 million financing round at a $5.3 billion valuation. The funding will accelerate the company’s AI-powered platform that translates doctor-patient conversations into medical documentation, reducing the administrative burden on clinicians.
The Series E round was led by Andreessen Horowitz (also known as A16z), with participation from Khosla Ventures. The new capital will support Abridge’s expansion across U.S. hospitals and health systems and its ongoing R&D in medical language AI.
Abridge’s AI listens to patient-clinician conversations and turns them into structured clinical note drafts in real time, automatically syncing with the electronic health record system. The tool is now live in over 150 health systems, up 50% in just four months. Abridge says it’s on track to handle more than 50 million medical conversations this year.
Abridge is being used across the board—from academic hospitals to community clinics—covering 55 specialties and supporting conversations in 28 languages
