Paycom Honored with the 2024 Tech Cares Award for Outstanding CSR by TrustRadius
Workers today are increasingly aware of and concerned with how their companies function internally and engage with the wider world. According to Deloitte’s 2024 Gen Z and Millennial Survey of 22,800 respondents across 44 countries:
- 75% believe an organization’s community engagement and societal impact are primary factors in considering a potential employer.
- 86% of Gen Z and 89% of millennials say having a sense of purpose is important to their overall job satisfaction and well-being.
- Two in 10 Gen Zs and millennials have changed jobs or industries to better align their work with their environmental values, with another quarter of each generation planning to do so in the future.
Robust Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts are increasingly important to new generations of workers. TrustRadius, a buyer intelligence platform, recently recognized B2B technologies that went above and beyond to support employees and communities in the last year with its 2024 Tech Cares award. Among the recipients was Paycom, a leading provider of comprehensive, cloud-based human capital management software, founded and led by Founder, CEO and Chairman Chad Richison.
The key areas encompassing the award included:
- Sustainability and the Environment
- Volunteerism
- Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)
- Generous donations
- Community Impact
- Employee well-being and development
- Support for women in technology
- Education support
Jennifer Kraszewski, chief human resources officer at Paycom, said, “Paycom is heavily rooted in its values, which guide the organization in everything we do, from HR software to real-world interactions. This recognition is indicative of our efforts of creating an inclusive workplace, giving back to the community, and minimizing our environmental impact across our organization.”
Here are some of the practices and initiatives which earned Paycom this honor.
Community Impact and Generous Donations
Each year, Paycom selects a diverse array of nonprofits for its Employee Giving Program, enabling employees to donate to organizations close to their hearts through the Paycom app.
In 2023, Paycom and its team donated over $2.3 million, benefitting more than 350 organizations across 37 states and Washington, D.C., through small grants, employee giving, and sponsorships. The programs support a multitude of local and national causes, including youth programming, mental health treatment, programs for individuals living with disabilities, and food assistance for individuals and children in need.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)
Paycom’s commitment to diversity has been acknowledged by Newsweek, earning the title of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity in 2023 and 2024.
Paycom’s DEI strategy aims to improve the daily lives of its employees by attracting diverse talent, building a culture that embraces employees’ uniqueness, and providing the tools and resources employees need to succeed. In 2022, Paycom launched 11 employee resource groups (ERGs) to help individuals from a variety of backgrounds make connections and find support in the workplace.
Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)
ERGs are voluntary, staff-led initiatives designed to promote networking and foster a more inclusive environment. These programs are open to all team members and over 20% of Paycom employees participate in one or more ERGs. The ERGs include:
- Asian American and Pacific Islander
- Black Leaders Advancing Culture and Knowledge
- Abled and Disabled Allies Partnering Together
- Hispanic Organization for Leadership Advancement
- Indigenous Interfaith Paycom Respect Inclusion and Diversity
- Military and Veterans in Paycom
- Multigenerational Women’s Working Parents and Caregivers
Leaders of these ERGs also received training at the ERG Recruitment Academy to effectively represent Paycom at recruiting events.
Better Conversations
Paycom also holds a Better Conversations series in which team members share personal experiences and discuss polarizing topics in an open, constructive forum. In 2023, Paycom enhanced the program by partnering with each Employee Resource Group (ERG) to organize monthly events. Throughout the year, there were 24 Better Conversations sessions with 1,149 team members. The company also reported that all its leaders have participated in at least one session.
Employee Well-Being and Development
At Paycom, health and wellness are top priorities. The company offers comprehensive resources designed to support both mental and physical well-being, including:
- Affordable individual health insurance at $1 per pay period
- On-site professional well-being advisors for personalized guidance
- $0 copay for in-network therapy and counseling, ensuring accessible mental health care without financial strain
- Soundproof privacy booths for private virtual consultations
- On-site interfaith spaces and weekly guided meditation sessions to foster spiritual and mental wellness
Recognized as one of the Greatest Workplaces for Parents and Families by Newsweek in 2023, Paycom acknowledges the challenges of balancing work and family life. The company offers paid parental leave, paid adoption and foster care leave, and paid secondary caregiver leave.
In 2024, Comparably, a leading workplace culture and corporate brand reputation platform with millions of employee ratings placed Paycom on two of their renowned lists – Best Career Growth, for the third year in a row, and Best Leadership Teams list. Paycom was also named to Comparably’s Best Sales Teams list for the third consecutive year, as well as the Best Company Outlook list for the second consecutive year.
Support for Women in Technology
During Women’s History Month in 2024, Paycom donated $50,000 to Oklahoma Women in Technology (OKWIT) through its monthly employee giving program. OKWIT is a volunteer-led nonprofit organization of technology professionals dedicated to closing the gender gap in STEM fields. They achieve this by networking, advocating for women, and inspiring young women to pursue STEM interests and education in Oklahoma. This donation will enhance educational opportunities for young women in Oklahoma through scholarships, retreats, and initiatives that promote leadership and development in STEM fields throughout the state. In 2023, Paycom also sponsored an OKWIT scholarship for a high school girl aiming for a STEM career.
Sustainability and the Environment
Paycom takes a proactive approach to sustainability. Its corporate headquarters in Oklahoma City and Grapevine are powered entirely by wind energy through the purchase of renewable energy credits. The company has also adopted energy-efficient and energy-reducing designs in their on-site data centers, further minimizing their environmental impact.
