Blockchain gaming startup Moonveil extends pre-Series A funding to $9M for Web3 multiplayer mobile games
Moonveil, a blockchain gaming studio and Layer 2 gaming ecosystem, today announced it has completed its Pre-Series A funding round, bringing its total funding to $9 million.
Leading the round was Spartan Group, with additional backing from Gumi Cryptos Capital, HashKey Capital, Animoca Ventures, Hivemind, and Mask Network. This follows a previous seed round supported by P2 Ventures. The funds will help Moonveil in its mission to build a Layer 2 ecosystem tailored for web3 gaming.
Moonveil was founded in 2022 by MJ Wong and other seasoned game developers. The startup aims to merge blockchain technology with high-quality multiplayer mobile games that blend casual gaming with more complex and engaging experiences. Wong, who previously held a senior role at Riot Games in China and has a background in investment banking, leads a team that includes veterans from Riot Games, Tencent, and the broader crypto community.
The newly acquired funds will also fuel the development of Moonveil’s infrastructure, support community-building efforts, and expand its user acquisition strategies, particularly targeting web3 users and GameFi enthusiasts.
With this fresh capital, Moonveil is setting out to establish new standards in the web3 gaming industry by developing top-tier products on a ZK-powered Layer 2 chain. The goal is to push the boundaries of web3 gaming through fast delivery, community-driven development, and continuous iteration, creating a dynamic ecosystem for both game developers and players.
Moonveil’s gaming ecosystem operates on a ZK-based Layer 2, offering a fully optimized platform for web3 games developed by third parties as well as titles from Moonveil’s in-house studio. The platform is designed for high scalability and performance, providing the necessary infrastructure for web3 gaming to thrive.
Built on the Polygon CDK, Moonveil’s ecosystem is the work of a team with deep expertise in both gaming and blockchain. The founders have previously contributed to major titles like League of Legends, Valorant, Minecraft, and EVE Online. Now, they are focusing on developing their own games within the Moonveil ecosystem, with two initial titles, AstrArk and Bushwhack, set for release soon.
