Hydroxychloroquine shows no benefit. It’s “time to move on,” White House coronavirus testing chief Brett Giroir says

As we continue our coverage of malaria drug hydroxychloroquine, We’d like to share with you the latest development from the nation’s testing czar and assistant secretary of health and human services, Admiral Brett Giroir.

In an exclusive interview with NBC News’ “Meet the Press” on Sunday, Adm Giroir said that “from a public health standpoint, at first, hydroxychloroquine looked very promising” but at “this point in time, there’s been five randomized control, placebo-controlled trials that do not show any benefit to hydroxychloroquine.”

“At this point in time, there has been five randomized controlled, placebo controlled trials that do not show any benefit to hydroxychloroquine. So, at this point in time, we don’t recommend that as a treatment. There’s no evidence to show that it is,” Giroir said.

Hydroxychloroquine has become the most controversial drug since President Donald Trump touted the drug as a potential game-changer for the treatment of coronavirus. Last week, Dr. Simone Gold, the COVID-19 doctor was fired from her hospital job over hydroxychloroquine viral video.
