Coronavirus Origin: More than 60 countries now back Australia’s call for probe into the origin of coronavirus
Coalition of 62 countries are now backing Australia’s call for an independent inquiry into the origin of the deadly coronavirus which started in Wuhan, China in December 2019. According to a new report from Australian’ SBS News, more than 60 countries including Russia, Indonesia, India, Japan, Britain, Canada, New Zealand and all 27 European Union member states have co-sponsored the motion.
Australia Prime Minister Scott Morrison described the push for an inquiry into the origins of coronavirus as completely unremarkable. However, the push for the inquiry has angered Beijing, which has threatened a huge tariff on barley and blocked some beef imports. China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi lashes out at foreign politicians for politicizing the pandemic.
The draft resolution calls for impartial, independent and comprehensive evaluation of the international response to the pandemic.
