GIllware launches Ransomware Stress Test to prep businesses against evolving attacks
Ransomware attacks have always been a frightening possibility for businesses, both large and small. In seconds, your whole business could be shut down with crucial information withheld for a hefty fee. That’s why in 2018, there was a huge sigh of relief. Statistics showed attacks were on the decline.
Unfortunately, 2019 proved otherwise.
According to the McAfee Labs Threats Report: August 2019, ransomware grew by 118% in the just first quarter of 2019 alone and new ransomware families were detected along with sophisticated techniques. In June, two Florida cities paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to attacks. In August, 22 Texas towns were hit with attacks along with hundreds of dental offices across the country. With attacks ever-evolving, taking preventative measures is an arduous and expensive feat for businesses.
Before you start believing all is lost, a new free tool has been released by Gillware, a professional data recovery, digital forensics, incident response and risk management company. It’s called the Ransomware Stress Test (RST) and it’s here to help businesses fight back by assessing their risk and providing free remediation resources.
“Ransomware is rampant with more and more businesses falling victim. Rather than just talk about the problem, we are taking steps to tackle it,” says Christopher Gerg, CISO and Vice President of Cyber Risk Management. “The Gillware Ransomware Stress Test is a free tool for businesses to evaluate their ability to combat, detect and recover from a ransomware incident. The results of the Ransomware Stress Test will outline where the business is most vulnerable and will walk through what they need to do to fix it.”
Since the tool is free, businesses can take it at any time to how their security improves over time and to make sure they’re still safe. Gillware will keep the RST updated to defend against the latest types of threats and advanced methods.
The RST is free to use now at https://rst.gillware.com/.
