Xometry, the largest on-demand manufacturing platform startup, launches die casting, stamping and extrusion manufacturing capabilities
Manufacturing is one of the areas that has received little attention from tech startup founders and entrepreneurs. Back in June, we wrote about Xometry, the Gaithersburg, Maryland-based manufacturing startup that one of the problems product designers, engineers and procurement officers face in finding optimal manufacturing solution for their custom part needs. Product designers, engineers and procurement officers spend days sending out RFQs, waiting for feedback, sending drawings, asking for different quantities, waiting for more feedback, only to receive back less than optimal pricing and lead times. Surprisingly, these designers are not always fully aware of the capabilities and limitations of the latest manufacturing technology advances.
Xometry its Instant Quoting Engine in June to help users quickly review their quotes, a part-level modification page that captures all changes in real time, and an always-visible 3D viewer with instant design feedback displayed directly on the model. Xometry provides instant quotes on CNC Machining, Sheet Metal Fabrication, 3D Printing, and Urethane Casting. Xometry is the largest on-demand manufacturing network platform.
Today, the startup announced the launch of new die casting, stamping and extrusion manufacturing capabilities that gives its offers customers the ability to request quotes from network of qualified suppliers. To receive a quote, customers will upload their part files to Xometry’s site and specify their part requirements. Then, an RFQ will go out to Xometry’s national partner network and qualified shops will respond within 7 days. Customers can communicate with the shops who bid and select a supplier. It costs $20 + tax to issue an RFQ and send it to the network.
Xometry has expanded its partner network – which already includes over 2,500 shops in the US – to include Die Casting, Stamping, and Extrusion Suppliers. These partners will be eligible to receive discounts through Xometry’s Shop Advantage program.
“We are excited to offer an RFQ service to our customers,” said Randy Altschuler, Xometry’s CEO. “This new offering allows us to serve additional needs for our customers as well as the manufacturers in our partner network.”
Customers interested in receiving quotes directly from qualified suppliers can do so on Xometry’s site. Die Casting, Stamping, and Extrusion shops who would like to join our network and receive RFQs from Xometry’s customers can apply here.
