World’s largest startup accelerator Plug and Play Japan is launching “Mobility” startup accelerator program
World’s largest startup accelerator, Plug and Play Japan, yesterday announced the launch of Mobility as a new genre for its startup accelerator program in addition to Fintech, IoT, Insurtech for the Batch 1 program. This new Mobility program is being launched in partnership with Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. as a leading partner. Startups from around the globe can apply for this Batch 1 program in Japan starting from February 1, 2018. Plug and Play is a global innovation platform. We connect startups to corporations, and invest in over 100 companies every year. They have 22 locations around the world with success stories that include PayPal, Dropbox, SoundHound, and Lending Club.
Plug and Play is a Silicon Valley based venture fund, innovation platform and startup accelerator. Since inception in 2006, Plug and Play has invested and supported many startups all over the world. In fiscal year 2017 alone, Plug and Play supported 460 startups and invested in 264 startups. Plug and Play has expanded to 12 countries in 26 locations. The Japan office was launched in July 2017, supporting 21 selected startups in Fintech, IoT, Insurtech areas with companies from Japan, Belgium, Israel and US. There are currently 10 Corporate Partners and Nissan will be a new leading partner for the new Mobility program.
Plug and Play is the most active venture capitalist in Silicon Valley. By giving entrepreneurs a place to do their life’s best work, they get a chance to understand their company inside and out. Plug and Play also work closely with entrepreneurs to identify the best investment opportunities in the industry. Every year, Plug and Play invests $25,000 to $500,000 into over 100 ground-breaking companies. They also pair startups in their program with over 180 of the greatest VCs in the world.
Startups from Japan and other countries are welcomed to apply. This program will be focused on startups in Fintech, IoT, Insurtech and Mobility areas. Application can be submitted through Plug and Play Japan’s official website from February 1, 2018 to March 31, 2018. Total of roughly 40 competitive startups will be selected for the three month accelerator program.
Accepted startups can receive feedback and support from our Corporate Partners to strengthen their existing service. Upon discussion, startups can have access to corporate resources to explore partnership opportunities. For international expansion, Plug and Play will enable startups to access global market through its international office network. Plug and Play can provide mentorship and pitch opportunities at Silicon Valley and in other locations. All accepted startups will have access to a co-working office in Tokyo, Japan “Plug and Play Shibuya powered by Tokyu Land Corporation” during this program period.
