Nordic no-code platform startup Lemonado secures $1.4M in funding to accelerate global expansion
Lemonado, a Stockholm-based AI startup that enables non-developers to create custom business software using natural language commands, has secured $1.4 million in seed funding to drive its global expansion.
The funding round was led by Nordic venture capital firm node.vc, with contributions from notable investors including Alexander Aghassipour, co-founder of Zendesk and partner at Nordic Makers.
With this fresh capital, Lemonado aims to accelerate its international growth by bolstering its technology, expanding its service offerings, and enhancing community engagement. This will involve hiring more senior developers, growth hackers, and content marketers.
Lemonado will use the fresh capital infusion to enhance its technological development, broaden its service offerings, and bolster its community engagement teams. This includes recruiting more senior developers, growth hackers, and content marketers to drive international product-led growth.
With the United States currently representing Lemonado’s largest market, the startup is set to amplify its product capabilities and expand its reach. The funding will play a crucial role in this expansion, allowing Lemonado to refine its platform and grow its user base.
Founded in 2024 by early Trustly team members in Stockholm, Lemonado is designed for non-developers looking to automate workflows and streamline business processes. The company represents a shift from traditional B2B SaaS to custom software solutions tailored for knowledge workers.
Lemonado emerged from the founders’ previous venture, Passbuy, which garnered over 100,000 users but ultimately did not achieve the desired growth. Taking these lessons to heart, founders Albert Lundberg (CEO and ex-EF Education First), Rikard Javelind (ex-Trustly, and Daniel Angelhoff (ex-Trustly) created Lemonado to address the inefficiencies they encountered firsthand.
Albert Lundberg, Lemonado’s CEO, witnessed the tedious and inefficient processes of handling large datasets and recognized the potential for automation. Rikard and Daniel, both developers, experienced increasing demands on their time within fast-growing organizations. Together, they built Lemonado to empower non-developers to automate work and streamline business processes.
Current clients include The Octopus Club, WorkTripp, and Planhat. Erik Holm, CFO of Planhat, praised Lemonado, saying, “Our experience with Lemonado has been exceptional. We needed a flexible solution to scale our revenue operations and test new models. Lemonado enabled our non-technical teams to leverage data and AI in innovative ways. We’re now integrating Lemonado across various functions within Planhat.”
Lemonado’s platform allows users to generate apps with rich UIs and seamless data integrations, syncing data from multiple sources like Hubspot, Postgres, and Google Sheets. It enables real-time computation of large datasets, a unique feature in the market. The platform’s ‘building block’ mechanism offers easily implementable functionalities straight out of the box.
Sally Page, co-founder of WorkTripp, remarked, “Lemonado has dramatically simplified our processes by automatically linking data, such as matching transactions to user profiles. Before Lemonado, we relied heavily on manual processes due to limited resources.”
Commenting on the funding, CEO Albert Lundberg said, “Traditional methods of working with data are outdated and cumbersome. In this decade of data, automation is essential for maintaining and enhancing productivity. Lemonado empowers those closest to the problem to solve it without needing to code. We are grateful to our investors, node.vc, Nordic Makers, Antler, and angels, for supporting our vision to help people work faster and smarter.”
With the latest funding, Lemonado is poised to redefine how businesses approach software development, making it accessible and efficient for everyone.
