Deep learning startup Chorology launches AI-powered data governance platform after $9M funding round
Chorology, a new player in the data governance space, has officially launched its AI-driven data governance platform, designed to transform how enterprises manage their data. The startup recently emerged from stealth with a $9 million Series A investment and a roster of Fortune 500 clients.
The field of data governance, which involves ensuring the security, privacy, and compliance of data through various policies, procedures, and technologies, has long been known for its complexity and resource demands. Chorology aims to disrupt this status quo by harnessing artificial intelligence.
The platform offers a suite of AI features that automate critical data governance tasks. For instance, its automated data discovery tool simplifies the challenging process of identifying all organizational data. Additionally, Chorology’s Intelligent Data Classification and Data Mapping tools provide insights into data flow, crucial for effective governance strategies.
Chorology introduces a comprehensive solution for compliance and security posture management, suitable for both on-premises and cloud-based enterprise data. The platform promises to address the shortcomings of existing solutions by offering end-to-end security assessments and a thorough view of organizational threats. Its user-friendly design ensures minimal learning overhead, keeping operational costs low.
As the first platform of its kind, Chorology provides a detailed understanding of data sprawl without extensive pre-processing or machine learning overheads. It protects sensitive data from internal and external threats while ensuring compliance with evolving regulations, all while significantly reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) for enterprise data management.
Key features of the Chorology platform include the Auto-Data Discovery Engine, which offers exceptional accuracy, the versatile Auto-Data Classification Engine, and the sophisticated Auto-Data Mapping Engine. Together, these features create a robust data security risk and compliance posture management framework, enhancing enterprise data governance.
“Chorology’s data compliance and posture enforcement solution (CAPE) allows enterprises to intelligently automate their DSPM engine, discovering and classifying sensitive structured and unstructured data in both on-premises and cloud repositories. CAPE’s Deep-AI engine bridges the gap between regulatory mandates and practical compliance implementation, protecting vast ecosystems of sensitive data at a lower TCO and setting a new industry benchmark,” said Sam Phillips, former CISO for Bank of America.
“The widening gap between compliance mandates and practical implementation poses a significant challenge. Chorology’s CAPE solution helps enterprises achieve lower TCO while future-proofing their organizations for growth and regulatory changes,” said Vas Kodali, former EVP for Wells Fargo.
Mike Matchett, Principal Analyst at Small World Big Data, emphasized, “CISOs face challenges in identifying relevant data across various storage systems. Chorology’s solution fills these gaps, offering comprehensive data assessments and proactive protection strategies, aligning with market demands for automated solutions in the face of regulatory complexities and cyber threats.”
Chris Steffen, VP of Research at Enterprise Management Associates, added, “Chorology’s AI-powered platform is a game-changer, saving significant time and effort. It addresses critical gaps in current data governance frameworks, enhancing accuracy, and efficiency, and reducing operating costs. This development is a major step forward for enterprises tackling modern data security and regulatory compliance complexities.”
Founded by Tarique Mustafa, a seasoned entrepreneur and industry visionary, Chorology builds on extensive research and development in cybersecurity and AI. Mustafa, who previously founded GhangorCloud, brings experience from leading tech organizations like Symantec and McAfee. Chorology’s team includes high-tech executives with a track record of developing and marketing successful cybersecurity products.
“Data breaches and security threats are persistent issues. Our mission is to exceed industry expectations, setting a new standard for data integrity and regulatory compliance,” said Mustafa. “Chorology’s platform represents a leap forward, offering a comprehensive and intuitive suite of tools to stay ahead of threats and compliance mandates.”
