D3 joins forces with Shiba Inu & Viction to launch top-level Web3 domains
D3 Global, a next-generation domain name startup, just announced some major partnerships with the Shiba Inu and Viction blockchain ecosystems to secure .shib and .vic Top-Level Domains (TLDs) in the upcoming ICANN application window.
The launch follows closely on the heels of D3 securing $5 million in funding in September to create the first Web3 top-level domains (TLDs) that are interoperable with the existing Web2 Domain Name System (DNS) domains
The Shiba Inu ecosystem, with its vast user base of over 80 million, includes the popular SHIB token and the Shibarium Layer-2 blockchain. Meanwhile, Viction is a people-focused Layer-1 blockchain with zero-gas transactions and enhanced security, serving over 3.7 million wallets. Through interoperable digital identities, D3 aims to help both ecosystems extend their services beyond their existing communities in a secure and trusted manner, aligning with D3’s broader mission to integrate DNS and blockchain technologies.
D3 recognizes the current incompatibility of Web3 naming systems with traditional internet infrastructure, leading to gaps in functionality, brand confusion, data loss, and potential fraud. Their patent-pending platform seeks to bridge these gaps, integrating traditional internet and Web3 ecosystems to provide enhanced utility, security, and universal access, introducing what they term as ‘real Web3 domains.’
Fred Hsu, CEO of D3, expressed enthusiasm about the partnerships, emphasizing D3’s vision to make Web3 more accessible, transparent, scalable, and secure by establishing futureproof, interoperable digital identities with DNS at the core.
“We are excited to partner with the Shiba Inu and Viction teams to bring real domains to their respective ecosystems,” said Fred Hsu, Chief Executive Officer at D3. “Our vision is to make Web3 more accessible, transparent, scalable and secure by building futureproof, interoperable digital identities with DNS at the foundation.”
Shytoshi Kusama, Lead Developer of Shiba Inu, also highlighted the significance of bringing real domains to the SHIB ecosystem, aiming to expand its vision for digital identities within its decentralized environment and drive long-term revenue generation.
“Our partnership with D3 allows us to scale outside of the existing #ShibArmy and give over 5 billion Internet users direct access to the SHIB ecosystem,” said Shytoshi Kusama, Lead Developer of Shiba Inu. “Bringing real domains to SHIB is a big deal, expanding our vision for digital identities within our decentralized ecosystem, while driving long-term revenue generation within the ecosystem.”
Thanh Le of the Viction Foundation Council echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of identity in online interactions and how the partnership with D3 will provide their community access to real domains, unlocking new capabilities for interoperable digital identities within the Viction ecosystem.
“Identity has been at the forefront of online interactions for many years and Web3 shouldn’t be any different. The partnership between Viction and D3 will give our community access to real domains and unlock new capabilities on the path towards interoperable digital identities,” said Thanh Le of the Viction Foundation Council. “We are thrilled with D3’s vision and look forward to working with their team to grow the Viction ecosystem.”
D3, leveraging its team’s extensive industry experience in DNS and Web3 technologies, plans to expedite the transition to ‘real Web3 domains’ through collaborations with prominent blockchain ecosystems. Early access sign-ups are now open.
