Xiaomi launches Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro with starting price of $1,000 to take on Apple and Samsung
In June 2021, Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi overtook Apple and Samsung to become the world’s largest smartphone maker. Xiaomi has since slipped to third place a year later due to a very rough year that saw its smartphone shipments declining 26% year-on-year. However, the competition between the three companies goes on as Xiaomi released new innovative devices with cool features.
Over the weekend, Xiaomi released its flagship smartphone Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro globally as it attempts to take a slice of the high-end market and challenge Apple and Samsung. The two products were originally launched in China in December 2022, but the two products are now to consumers in overseas markets.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro device, which sports a 6.73-inch display, comes with a 50MP Telephoto Lens and has a minimum focus distance of 10cm, which results in some super cool close-up shots and portraits. The Xiaomi 13 Pro is the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset from Qualcomm. The Xiaomi 13 starts at 999 euros ($1,053). The new Xiaomi 13 Pro checks all the right boxes and starts at 1,299 euros.
The Xiaomi 13 phone is powered by a non-removable Li-Po 4500 mAh battery + 67W wired + 50W wireless + 10W reverse wireless. It runs on Android 13 + MIUI 14 operating system.
The device is powered by the Qualcomm SM8550 Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Octa-core processor while the GPU is Adreno 740. The Xiaomi 13 comes in 6.36 inches size and the display is OLED which provides 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution.
It is packed with 8 GB, 12 GB RAM and 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB internal storage. The rear camera features a triple camera: 50 MP (wide) + 10 MP (telephoto) + 12 MP (ultrawide) while on the front, there is a single camera: 32 MP (wide).
The device is equipped with sensors such as under display, optical fingerprint, accelerometer, proximity, gyro, compass, and color spectrum. Xiaomi 13 is available in various colors including White, Black, Flora Green, Mountain Blue, Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, and Gray.
