Meet Watergen, an Israeli tech startup that makes safe drinking water from air and also strengthening ties between the Jewish state and the Arab world
Happy weekend! Today, we would like to share with you one of the innovative tech startups is making a difference in the world and making the world a better place. Watergen is a Tel Aviv, Israel-based tech that makes safe drinking water out of the air while building bridges in the Middle East across nations with different cultures, religions, and ideologies.
Watergen was founded in 2019 with a mission to use state-of-the-art technology to provide humanity with a renewable source of high-quality drinking water, extracted from the air, making it available anywhere, on-demand, and at a reasonable cost. Using its patented technology, Watergen extracts water from the air with maximum efficiency. In addition, Watergen is also its technology to strengthen ties between the Jewish Nation and the Arab World.
According to the United Nations, more than one billion people wake up every day without access to clean and safe drinking water, Watergen came up with a game-changing solution that uses humidity in the air to create clean and fresh drinking water. Making water out of air seems farfetched, today Watergen’s impact is creating both an additional clean drinking water source and accomplishing it in the most economically efficient manner, making its unique technology available to all.
Generating the water directly from the air enables Watergen’s solutions to be completely independent and autonomous, requiring no infrastructure whatsoever but electricity, making it literally a plug-and-drink solution, aimed at everyone. Now, Watergen’s installation can be found everywhere around the world, especially in the Middle East.
Located on the Persian Gulf, Abu Dhabi is a modern jewel in the Middle East and the capital of The United Arab Emirates (UAE). Most people probably think the city has plenty of water. Unfortunately, the opposite is true. According to Trade.Gov, a U.S government-owned website, “The UAE faces several water management challenges including scarcity of groundwater reserves, high salinity levels in existing groundwater, high cost of producing drinking water, and limited re-use of water.”
Michael Rutman, CO-CEO of Watergen, further explains: “I’m not talking just about the ocean that you see outside. I’m talking about the groundwater. It’s all very, very salty, and undrinkable.”
In 2020, the UAE became the first Arab nation in more than 25 years to make peace with the nation of Israel, when it signed on to the Abraham Accords. The peace deal opened the door for Watergen and good news for Dr. Michael Mirilashvili is the owner and president of Watergen, who was eager to use Watergen’s technology to make safe drinking water for the people of The United Arab Emirates. Now, Watergen is using its technology to help make friends out of former enemies.
In an interview with the CBN News, Mirilashvili said: “The second I heard and saw the Abraham Accords were signed, I dropped everything I was dealing with and went directly to the UAE in order to strengthen the Abraham Accords.”
CO-CEO of Watergen also Rutman told the CBN News, “We started here, almost six months ago, and today, our machines are installed all over Abu Dhabi.”
In addition to the Middle East, Watergen also provides Uzbekistan orphans with safe drinking water from the air. Today, the company is now providing a source of fresh water for more than 120 children living in an orphanage in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. The GEN-350 atmospheric water generator can produce up to 900 liters of water per day.
Today, Watergen is present in more than 40 countries around the globe bring safe drinking water to places that were earlier thought impossible. Watergen recently won an award for one of the best home appliances. Watergen’s patented technology can produce water ranges from 8 gallons a day for home devices to more than 1,300 gallons a day for industrial-sized appliances.
