Spotify to allow all its employees to work from anywhere in the world
Spotify joins the list of companies that are adapting to the “Work from Anywhere” model after the coronavirus pandemic broke out a year ago. In a blog post on Friday, Swedish music streaming company announced it will let employees work from anywhere in the world.
According to the announcement, the new “Work from Anywhere” model will allow employees to choose whether they want to be in the office full time, be at home full time, or a combination of the two. Spotify also added that it will also introduce more flexibility around locations, so employees will be able to choose the country and city where they work. In a statement, Spotify said:
“Today, Spotify is proud to introduce Work From Anywhere (WFA), a new way of collaborating that allows Spotifiers to work from wherever they do their best thinking and creating. Through this distributed-first mentality, we are giving employees the opportunity to elect a Work Mode—whether they’d prefer to work mostly at home or in the office—as well as their geographic location.”
With no certainty on when vaccine inoculations will complete, many companies are now shifting to the WFA model. In addition, as cloud-based systems become more available, more people now using online meetings and adapting to remote working lifestyles.
“As part of our ongoing Dynamic Workplace effort, we’re reevaluating our office spaces across the globe for increased sustainability, flexibility, and well-being to ensure that all of our employees, regardless of ability or situation, can work comfortably and efficiently,” the company said in a blog post. “The ultimate goal of our new design approach is to ensure that employees have a place where they can focus, collaborate, and create—whether that’s at a desk, in a conference room, or in cafe spaces.”
Spotify is not alone in embracing the WFA model. Salesforce.com Inc and Twitter Inc have already shifted to hybrid or permanent remote working models.
