Tesla abruptly ends its 7-day return policy for its electric vehicles; Deletes the mention of the policy from its website
Until about a week ago, Tesla, the $409 billion electric car company, had a policy where buyers can order Tesla cars online and return it back within 7 days for a full refund if they don’t want it. On its website, the company had previously said: “This return policy is intended to give you confidence in your purchase of a Tesla vehicle, and so is in addition to any other rights you may have under applicable law.”
Now, Tesla has canceled its ballsy ‘no questions asked’ 7-day return policy. According to a report from Engadget, Teslas has stopped its 7-day return policy. The change was first discovered by pro-Tesla blog Electrek, who noticed that when you tried to go to the 7-day return policy webpage, they were instead directed back to Tesla’s homepage.
For years, Elon Musk has been promoting the 7-day return policy as a show of confidence for the automaker. Back in 2019, Musk said the following in a Twitter post:
“Can order online in 2 mins for home delivery & return in 7 days for full refund.”

The original reads as follow:
“Owning a Tesla vehicle means you are driving one of the most advanced, best performing and safest vehicles available. We are confident that you will feel great about your new vehicle, and so are giving you time to experience and enjoy your new Tesla. Subject to the terms and conditions of this policy, if you are unhappy with your vehicle, you may return it to us within seven (7) calendar days.”
The policy has now disappeared from the company website.
