Alexander Korsager from Casino.org on the Next Big Shift in iGaming: From Faster Payments to Smarter Player Experiences
Around the world, the iGaming sector has changed dramatically in recent years. Technological advancements, regulatory changes and evolving player preferences have all played a key role in shaping the future of this well-loved entertainment scene, which continues to grow and develop at an astonishing pace.
Understandably, industry experts and stakeholders are keeping a close eye on these developments as they try to anticipate the next big shift in iGaming. To discuss everything from faster payments to smarter player experiences, we reached out to Alexander Korsager, Chief Gaming Officer and longstanding resident expert at the trusted online casino authority Casino.org. It was fascinating to hear Alexander’s take on where this fast-paced sector may be headed in the near future!
First, let’s take a look at the big picture. What would you say have been some of the biggest shifts in the iGaming sector since you started out in the industry?
It’s pretty incredible to reflect on this question. I joined the iGaming space over 10 years ago, and in some ways, I’d say that the last decade has been the most transformational period in the entire history of the online casino industry. It’s easy to start taking things for granted, but I think it’s important to note that the gaming opportunities and standard of experiences available to players in 2026 is worlds apart from those that were on offer back in 2016.
Across the board, technology has come an extremely long way in that time. Faster payments have quickly become the norm, and today’s players are no longer willing to accept lengthy delays in moving their funds. At the same time, the sheer variety and creativity of games and experiences on offer is incredible – live gaming is far more reliable, user interfaces are sleek and streamlined, and platforms are competing at a seriously high standard.
Evidently, player preferences have also changed considerably in the last decade. What do you think players are most commonly looking for in an online casino today?
With baseline standards rising across the sector, I think what sets today’s players apart is that they are very well-informed and selective about where they choose to play. If a site doesn’t meet their expectations, they know they can move elsewhere for a better experience, and that means platforms cannot afford to become complacent.
Our role at Casino.org is to support players through this research and comparison process, so we see exactly where their priorities lie. Recently, many in the US have been turning to us for guidance on finding an online casino with the highest payouts in the US, as they look to make the most of their bankroll and find the best possible gaming experiences. It’s a crowded, competitive landscape, and that competition ultimately translates into higher standards and more options for players.
Faster payments have certainly been a major focus for online casinos in recent years. What might come next for iGaming transactions?
Faster payments have made a huge difference in the sector and have undoubtedly improved the overall player experience. It’s all about removing friction, and platforms have worked hard to make deposits and withdrawals as painless and seamless as possible. However, I think it is important to be mindful that speed isn’t everything.
For me, cybersecurity and player safety measures will define the next few years, as leading platforms need to demonstrate that they are taking these challenges seriously. Now that speed has become the norm, I believe that trust will be the defining currency of the casino platforms of the future. I’m also really interested to see how iGaming operators might implement AI technology into their processes, whether that’s supporting fraud prevention methods or quickly processing large amounts of operational data.
Finally, do you have any predictions for the future of the online casino industry? What do you think will be the next big shift in iGaming in the years to come?
To me, it looks like the future will increasingly be defined by smarter player experiences and personalization. This trend is already underway, and I think developers are attempting to make the iGaming experience feel much more customizable and unique. Throughout this shift, the most successful operators will be those that keep the big picture in mind and improve every feature of their sites and products.
The brands that stand out in the years to come will be those that make the fundamentals work well, while using technology to solve real problems and create experiences tailored to each individual player. That will involve listening to users, investing in innovation, and being willing to remove features that create more friction than value. Whatever happens, I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.
