Consio AI raises $3.3M to build the phone layer of e-commerce after 10× revenue growth
Most ecommerce teams live inside dashboards, email flows, and chat widgets. The phone often gets ignored, even though it remains the final step for shoppers making large purchases. Consio AI is betting that this blind spot is costing brands real money.
The Toronto-based startup announced a $3.3 million funding round as it pushes to make phone conversations a core part of e-commerce sales again. The round was led by RTP Global, an early investor in Datadog and Delivery Hero, with backing from Jason Lemkin’s SaaStr Fund, Mu Ventures, the founders of Gorgias, and operators from Ramp and Datadog.
The timing lines up with strong traction. Consio says revenue climbed tenfold in under six months, driven by ecommerce brands using its platform to close high-value orders through a mix of AI-driven and human-led phone conversations.
With $3.3M in New Funding, AI Startup Consio AI Bets on Voice to Close High-Value Ecommerce Sales
Consio focuses on moments where chatbots and email fall short. Large baskets, complex products, abandoned checkouts, and customers who want answers before committing. The platform answers inbound calls instantly with AI voice agents, runs outbound follow-ups at the right time, and routes serious buyers to human sales teams when needed. Every call pulls from live storefront and order data, keeping conversations grounded in real customer context.
“Shoppers making big purchases want real conversations, not another email or chatbot,” said Philippe Roireau, co-founder and CEO of Consio AI. “Consio picks up every inbound call instantly and places perfectly timed outbound follow-ups, so brands never miss a sale or make customers wait.”
Roireau co-founded the company with Martin Latrille after both spent years at Gorgias, a customer support unicorn serving ecommerce merchants. That background shows up in how Consio treats control and brand consistency. AI calls follow strict handoff rules, match each brand’s tone, and stay within compliance boundaries. Human teams step in with full call history and customer context already in view.
Investors see voice as an overlooked channel with measurable upside. “Voice is the most underutilized conversion lever in commerce, especially for high-ticket purchases,” said Thomas Cuvelier, Partner at RTP Global. “Consio AI unlocks the phone channel as a profitable growth engine. Backing Philippe and Martin was obvious given their unique domain expertise from Gorgias.”
Brands using Consio report millions in added sales tied directly to phone interactions, according to the company. That momentum is driving demand beyond early adopters. The new capital will go toward engineering, sales, and building out partnerships with e-commerce platforms and agencies.
As e-commerce teams chase higher conversion rates in crowded markets, Consio is making a clear case that the phone never lost its value. It just needed software built for modern commerce.
