AI4Eyes raise $6.5M CAD to commercialize AI-powered eye care solutions
AI4Eyes just locked in fresh capital at a pivotal moment.
The Canadian health tech startup has closed a $6.5 million CAD financing round, comprising $3.7 million CAD in internal equity funding from existing investors and $2.8 million CAD in non-dilutive support. The round, scheduled for Q4 2025, gives the company a fresh runway as it moves from product development to full commercialization.
For AI4Eyes, this is where the real work begins.
“This financing marks a pivotal milestone for AI4Eyes as we shift into full-scale execution and commercialization,” said CEO Dr. Tara Akhavan. “With the continued support of our existing investors and access to non-dilutive funding, we are accelerating regulatory approvals, expand our clinical programs, and bring meaningful AI-driven innovation to eye care providers and patients globally.”
The new capital will fund regulatory approval efforts across Canada and the U.S., support clinical trials, advance product development, and prepare the company for market entry. AI4Eyes is building an AI-driven platform that helps eye care professionals detect and manage ocular conditions faster, with higher accuracy. The company claims clinics using its software can boost revenue by up to 30%, a rare mix of clinical impact and commercial upside.

Behind the startup is a founder who knows how to scale.
Dr. Akhavan holds a PhD in computer science and a master’s degree in artificial intelligence, backed by more than 15 years of global leadership experience across Asia, Europe, and North America. Her first startup achieved a successful exit when it was acquired by the automotive technology giant FORVIA. Inside the company, she built its first software business unit and drove tenfold growth. Her work earned multiple CES Innovation Awards and Automotive News PACE Awards in 2024.
Today, she leads AI4Eyes while serving on five boards, bringing hands-on experience across startups, M&A, and enterprise growth. She runs Tara Consulting Inc. to mentor founders and support the startup community, not as a commercial venture.
AI4Eyes plans to use this funding to deepen its clinical data pipeline, strengthen partnerships across global markets, and expand its senior leadership team with international experience. The focus remains clear: bring regulated AI tools into real-world clinics, not just pilot programs.
As healthcare providers seek ways to improve outcomes without slowing workflows, AI4Eyes is betting its platform can integrate seamlessly into daily practice. This funding round gives the company a serious shot at proving it.
