Gemini 2.5 Pro Canvas is now free: Vibe coding is now accessible to everyone with simple prompts

Google just made its most advanced AI model, Gemini 2.5 Pro, free to use through Gemini Canvas on the web and mobile. The new feature, “vibe coding,” lets anyone build apps, games, and tools using simple prompts—no coding required.
Launched on March 29, 2025, Gemini 2.5 Pro was previously locked behind a $19.99/month subscription. Now, users get access to core features like Canvas, a 1-million-token context window, and advanced reasoning—all for free, with some usage limits.
“Now everyone can code + create with Gemini 2.5 Pro using Canvas in the @GeminiApp—our most advanced model + SOTA across many benchmarks. Give it a try!” Google CEO Sundar Pichai posted on X.

Vibe Coding
The release has sparked discussions about its potential to make coding more accessible. Vibe coding lowers the barrier for non-technical users by turning natural language into working software. Developers use it to speed up repetitive tasks. Non-coders use it to build things they previously couldn’t. The interface is fast, simple, and surprisingly effective—though not without the occasional hiccup.
Users praise its reasoning and coding abilities, especially how it handles large contexts. There’s ongoing work to improve its “thinking” and expand its reach across more platforms. While it’s not perfect, it’s a noticeable upgrade from earlier versions.
The free version includes vibe coding and Canvas, with premium features like unlimited file uploads still behind the paywall. But the core experience is fully open.
Gemini 2.5 Pro Canvas is now live. Whether you’re building your first app or just testing the waters, it’s ready—no coding degree needed.
