UK-based safety tech startup Notify raises £1.5M to improve workplace safety with AI

Notify Technology, a UK-based safety tech startup, has raised £1.5 million in fresh funding from Calculus Capital, the North East Venture Fund (backed by the European Regional Development Fund and managed by Mercia Ventures), and private investors.
The company, whose clients include McDonald’s, Siemens, and the NHS, plans to use the investment to introduce new AI-driven features to its platform and ramp up sales and marketing efforts. Notify’s software helps businesses log accidents and near misses, conduct audits and risk assessments, manage safety documents, and analyze workplace safety data—all from a single platform.
While primarily focused on workplace health and safety, the platform is also used for environmental and quality management. Major brands like Wickes, Travis Perkins, and Menzies Distribution are among the more than 250,000 users worldwide.
Founded in 2017 by Duncan Davies and Andy Dumbell, the Newcastle-based Notify aims to simplify Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) management. The platform is built to be intuitive, scalable, and secure. It allows organizations to digitally record incidents, streamline audits and inspections, and centralize risk assessments and safety documentation.
The company has grown to a team of 27 and has increased its annual recurring revenue (ARR) by 47% over the past 18 months. With this latest round, Notify has raised over £7 million in total funding.
Duncan Davies, co-founder and CEO, said: “Notify has positioned itself as a challenger brand in Safety Tech by focusing on service and innovation, thanks to an outstanding team. We’re grateful for the continued support from our investors, which will help us push forward with new developments and expand further. More companies are realizing the importance of workplace health and safety, and we’re in a great position to provide software that boosts both employee engagement and productivity.”
Richard Moore, Co-head of Investments at Calculus, added: “We’re excited to support Notify as it continues shaping the future of workplace safety. With more businesses prioritizing health, safety, and well-being, Notify is leading the way in providing smarter solutions. We’re proud to back their mission to improve conditions for a billion workers.”
Natalia Blagburn of Mercia Ventures noted that regulatory pressures and rising insurance claims are pushing businesses to take safety management more seriously. “By integrating AI, Notify is shifting from reactive safety management to a proactive approach, helping businesses prevent accidents instead of just responding to them,” she said.
With fresh capital and a growing demand for workplace safety solutions, Notify is positioning itself for further expansion in the industry.
