Microsoft invests $700M to boost Poland’s cybersecurity and cloud infrastructure

Microsoft is doubling down on its European investments, this time with a fresh $700 million commitment to Poland. Announced on Monday, the funding will strengthen the country’s cybersecurity efforts and expand computing power, building on the company’s existing $1 billion data center project.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Microsoft President Brad Smith outlined plans for this next phase, which comes just a year after the company injected $2.1 billion into Spain’s AI sector.
“Microsoft plans to invest an additional 700 million dollars in Poland to improve Polish cybersecurity in cooperation with the country’s armed forces, the company’s president said on Monday without elaborating,” Reuters reported.
Microsoft’s Polish data center, which went live in 2023, has been a major hub for cloud services, supporting both businesses and government institutions. The new investment will extend those capabilities while also playing a role in AI development and security initiatives.
Tusk highlighted the impact of this move, pointing out that it will give thousands of Polish scientists, managers, startups, and researchers access to new tools, helping to drive the country’s tech sector forward.
This push fits into Microsoft’s broader playbook of strengthening AI and digital infrastructure across Europe. In February, the tech giant announced a €3.2 billion investment in Germany over the next two years, its biggest commitment to the country in four decades, with AI at the center.
Over the past year, Microsoft has funneled at least $6 billion into projects across four countries. In addition to Poland and Germany, the company has been ramping up AI training efforts—pledging to upskill two million people in India’s smaller cities and one million in the UK.
With AI and cloud infrastructure shaping the future of global economies, Microsoft isn’t just investing in technology—it’s betting on the next wave of digital transformation.
