President Trump: US secures $3 trillion in investments on his first day in office, projects $7 trillion by week’s end
Just hours after unveiling what he called the largest AI infrastructure project in U.S. history, President Donald Trump took to X (formerly Twitter) to share another staggering milestone. The United States has already secured nearly $3 trillion in new investments, with projections suggesting the total could climb to $6 or $7 trillion by the end of the week.
“In total, before the end of my first full business day in Washington and the White House, we’ve already secured nearly $3 trillion of new investments in the United States. And probably, that’s going to be six or seven by the end of the week,” Trump said in his announcement.

This wave of investment builds on previous commitments, including the $200 billion investment pledge by SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son back in December.
Inside the Stargate Project
At the heart of this massive initiative is the Stargate Project, a groundbreaking artificial intelligence (AI) company created through a partnership between OpenAI, SoftBank, Oracle, and MGX. Announced during a White House press conference on January 21, 2025, with industry heavyweights like OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, and SoftBank’s Masayoshi Son in attendance, the Stargate Project aims to redefine AI infrastructure in the United States.
The numbers are ambitious: the company launched with an initial $100 billion investment and plans to scale that up to $500 billion by 2029. Masayoshi Son has been named chairman of the venture, with SoftBank shouldering the “financial responsibility” and OpenAI handling “operational responsibility.”
Building the Future of AI in the U.S.
The Stargate Project has already set its sights on building ten state-of-the-art data centers in Texas, with further expansion planned across the country. According to Trump, executive orders will expedite the infrastructure buildout, aiming to create more than 100,000 new jobs in the U.S.
The project is backed by an impressive lineup of initial technology partners, including Microsoft, Nvidia, Oracle, and Arm. This alliance underscores the collaborative approach to creating a robust AI ecosystem capable of supporting cutting-edge applications and innovations.
The Origins of Stargate
The Stargate initiative stems from a 2024 collaboration between OpenAI and Microsoft, which began developing an AI supercomputer under the same name. Now, with the combined efforts of industry giants and an unprecedented influx of capital, Stargate is poised to accelerate AI advancements on an unparalleled scale.
A Promising Start
With the announcement of the Stargate Project and the influx of $3 trillion in investments, the United States is positioning itself as a global leader in AI development and infrastructure. The next few weeks will reveal whether the administration’s lofty $6–$7 trillion investment projection becomes a reality, but one thing is clear: the Stargate Project has set the stage for a transformative era in U.S. technology and innovation.
This ambitious plan promises to drive both economic growth and technological progress, making it a landmark moment in the evolution of artificial intelligence.
